Eco-Friendly Insulation

Mineral Wool Insulation

This recycled eco-friendly insulation is ideal for insulating basements, exterior walls, crawlspaces and attic spaces in homes. Mineral wool insulation provides a high R-value/inch, excellent sound attenuation characteristics, and outstanding fire performance. Products are also inorganic, non-combustible, and mold resistant. Using these products conserve energy and provide a minimum 70% pre-consumer recycled content. This product also contributes to green building programs such as LEED and GREEN GLOBES.

The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Insulation

Adding eco-friendly insulation to your home is the best way to lower your carbon footprint. The added protection from the elements means you use less energy to heat your home and retain your air conditioning longer. There are other benefits of eco-friendly insulation too:

Safe and Sustainable Materials:

Natural and sustainable are buzz-words across the consumer goods spectrum and for good reason. One of the best benefits of eco-friendly insulation is that they generally contain less harmful chemicals, such as formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. Most cause less skin, eye, and upper respiratory irritation, and many are made of recycled materials - diverting waste from landfills.

Lower Manufacturing Costs:

Embodied energy - the manufacturing cost of producing something - is very high in some insulation types such as fiberglass, which can take up to ten times the energy to create than cellulose insulation. Environmentally friendly materials such as cork, wool, or even shredded denim require minute amounts in comparison.

Energy Savings:

The best of the benefits of eco-friendly insulation is that it helps you be green elsewhere. Better insulation means you need to burn less gas or fuel to run your furnace. Additionally, green alternatives can also provide a much higher R-value per square inch!

Sanitization

Before cleaning basements, crawlspaces and other storage areas, it is necessary to completely remove the existing rodent infestation first.  Once there is no more evidence of activity then you can begin cleaning these areas. Before cleaning the space, ventilate the area by opening the doors and windows for at least 30 minutes to allow fresh air to enter the area and to remove potentially contaminated air from the area. Use cross-ventilation and leave the area during the airing-out period.

When preparing and cleaning basements, crawlspaces and other storage areas:

  • Wear rubber, latex, or vinyl gloves when cleaning up urine, droppings, or nesting materials. Note that a dust mask may provide some protection against dust, molds, and insulation fibers, but does not protect against viruses.

  • Treat anything that has urine, droppings, and nesting materials with a household disinfectant prepared according to the label instructions for dilution and disinfection time. Soak well. This will inactivate any virus. Use a paper towel or rag to pick up the materials and dispose of them.

  • Remove the items and place them in an area that is well-ventilated and exposed to direct sunlight.

  •  Some contaminated stored materials, such as clothing, books, etc. can be decontaminated, items that are no longer needed can be discarded.

  • Dispose of any cardboard boxes contaminated with urine or droppings. Plastic, glass, or metal containers can be disinfected by spraying them with solutions or disinfectant.

  • Wash hands well with soap and warm water.

Our Policy

Before service make sure to remove all items from the area or make sure items are covered and protected to prevent anything from getting damaged.

Your home will also benefit from a lifetime of:

COMFORT:

  • Reduces drafts and increases comfort.

  • Helps maintain a comfortable, constant, temperature throughout the building, from room to room and floor to floor.

HEALTH:

  • Assists in improving indoor air quality.

  • Reduces the infiltration of outside air pollutants and soil gases. SPF can reduce moisture condensation and mold growth within the building walls and roof.

VALUE:

  • Excellent insulation efficiency of SPF can reduce heating and cooling usage dramatically.

  • HVAC equipment can be down-sized, thereby reducing construction costs.

  • SPF will not sag or settle. SPF can eliminate the need for separate house-wrap and vapor retarders.

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Helps conserve energy, reducing CO2 emissions.

  • Contributes LEED credits for sustainable, green construction. SPF can help reduce structural damage caused by high winds. SPF contains no formaldehyde or ozone depleting substances.
